Belfast Met offers two A-Level equivalent Level 3 IT Apprenticeship programmes at the Castlereagh Campus. The current programmes offers two IT apprenticeship routes. These are Networking Infrastructure and Software Development.
Level 3 Apprenticeship in Networking Infrastructure
- Apprentices will attend a 3 day per week bootcamp for 5 weeks (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday). The apprentices will study towards the Cisco Networking Essential certification
- The topics covered with this certification includes networking devices, configuring routers and switches and device security

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Software Development
- Apprentices will attend a 3 day per week bootcamp for 5 weeks (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday). The apprentices will study towards the new Pearson IT Specialist Certification in Software Development
- This course will give students an introduction to general software development and will then walk them through the basics of general software development, core programming, object-oriented programming, web applications and databases

Successful applicants will be employed in one of the participating companies and receive "on-the-job" training from Belfast Met.
As part of the application process, you will be required to complete a Supervised Mindmill test, this will solely take place at Belfast Met Castlereagh Campus. Please note, you will be invited to attend the supervised session, via email, please therefore ensure you check both your mail and junk mail folders.
Entry Requirements
- Experience is not required
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs of Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics

Assessment Results
- Issued by Mindmill to successful applicants week commencing 23rd June 2025
