Belfast Met offers two A-Level equivalent Level 3 IT Apprenticeship programmes at the Castlereagh Campus.  The current programmes offers two IT apprenticeship routes. These are Networking Infrastructure and Software Development. 

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Networking Infrastructure

  • Apprentices will attend a 3 day per week bootcamp for 5 weeks (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday). The apprentices will study towards the Cisco Networking Essential certification
  • The topics covered with this certification includes networking devices, configuring routers and switches and device security
  • Apprentices will also cover employment rights and responsibilities

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Software Development 

  • Apprentices will attend a 3 day per week bootcamp for 5 weeks (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday). The apprentices will study towards the new Pearson IT Specialist Certification in Software Development
  • This course will give students an introduction to general software development and will then walk them through the basics of general software development, core programming, object-oriented programming, web applications and databases

Successful applicants will be employed in one of the participating companies and receive "on-the-job" training from Belfast Met.

 

Entry Requirements 

  • Experience is not required 
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs of Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics 

As part of the application process, you are required to complete a Mindmill Online Psychometric test at home. This must be completed by 9am on Friday 23rd August 2024. Failure to complete the test by this deadline will be considered as your withdrawal from the process.

If you meet the benchmark, you will be invited to an invigilated verification test, which will be conducted via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 28th August 2024.

It will be necessary for you to furnish documentary substantiation of your condition (e.g. medical reports or educational psychologist's report) prior to taking the test. Subject to your requirements we will make and adjustment to your test times. 

    What are Psychometrics?

    Psychometrics are assessments which measure individual differences in many areas including Personality, Motivation, Aptitude and Abilities. These assessments are a common part of the selection process and enable organisations to better understand candidates and determine if they have the skills for the job.
