IT Apprenticeship

Gain IT skills and experience with excellent employer opportunities and training delivered by Northern Ireland's designated Digital IT Curriculum Hub. 

Higher Level Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain quality training and a recognised higher qualification while in paid employment. The HLA will be two and a half years in duration starting in September 2024. Apprentice will spend one day on the programme for 30 weeks and the remaining 4 days in employment each year. 

The qualification titles for these HLAs are as follows: 

Foundation Degree in Cyber Security with Cloud and Network Infrastructure

  • The apprentices will study towards Cisco Cyber security Essential 
  • Apprentices will spend one day on the programme for 30 weeks and the remaining 4 days in employment each year.

Foundation Degree in Software and Cloud Development with Data Analysis

  • The apprentices will study towards the IT Specialist Certification in Python 
  • Apprentice will spend one day on the programme for 30 weeks and the remaining 4 days in employment each year

Successful applicants will be employed in one of the participating companies and receive "on-the-job" training from Belfast Met.

Entry Requirements 

  • Hold 64 UCAS points  
  • GCSEs at C or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent, such as Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy
  • Consideration for prior learning can also be submitted

Verification Dates: 

  • 29 & 30 March 2024 - Remote testing via Microsoft TEAMS* 
  • 25 & 26 April 2024 - Remote testing via Microsoft TEAMS* 
  • 30 & 31 May 2024 - Remote testing via Microsoft TEAMS* 
  • 18 & 19 June 2024 - Remote testing via Microsoft TEAMS* 

* Webcam and high internet speed required 

Assessment Results 

  • Issued by Mindmill to successful applicants week commencing 24th June 2024
